LANGKAT,

The Deli papers give detailed reports of the trial of M. J. Janssens, a boring assistant on the oilfields in Upper Langkat, for the murder of Mr. H. Rutherford, the head baremaster thers, on February 13 last. The case for the prosecution rested on evidence that the crime -was committed with malice aforethought. At noon in that day, Janssens left bis dwailing house on the Baring ground armed with a Mausor repeating rifle. He entered an outbuild ing on the oilfield not far from the house, and lay in wait there, rifle in band, for nearly a quarter. of an hour, looking out for Rutherford. At about ten minutes past twelva Rutherford drew asan Janssens allowed him to approach up to about six feet from the building. He then fired

On receiving hay sucli tender, Government reserves to itself the right of deciding whether it shall be considered or not.

If Government decides not to consider the tender, it will be returned to the tenderer under seated caver.

(a) in one concession for the whole State. () in one concession for any of the follow ing Districts of the State, the limits named including the interior territory watered by the rivers within the limits gives respectively :-

(1) SANDAKAN DISTRICT-the Territory bounded on the one side by the true right watershed of the Kinabatangan River and on the other by the true left watershed of the

Paitan river.

(ii) KUDAT DISTRICT-the Territory bound. ed on the one side by the true left watershed of the Patan River and on the other by the true right watershed of the Pindasan River,

(i) WEST COAST DISTRICT-the Territory bounded on the one side by the true right watershed of the Podasan River and on the other by the northern boundary of Province

Clarke.

1. (iv) East Coast DISTRICT-the Territory

bounded on the one side by the true right; watershed-of-the-Kinabatangan-River and on the other by the Dutch Boundary on the Bouth at Broersbeek point,

(v) PROVINCE CLARKE-being the Territory between Batu-Baru and the Lawas northern

watershed.

4. The attention of those desirous of tender fing is drawn to the following terms -

(a) The tenderer must slate in his tender. the annual sum offered for the Farm rent for' the three years 1920, 1913 and 1913; a different sum may be offered for the first, second and third years respectively.
