Paris, July 14,

According to detailed accounts of M. Blériot's record for a straight live flight, which he ac. complished in the country between Etampes, and Orleans yssterday, khm covered_47_kilo- mètres in 56 minutes to seconds. From this aggregate, however, must be deducted, 11 minutes, during which he descended into a field in order to examine.bis monoplane. This descent was sanctioned by the terms of the new "Prix de Voyaga" recently created by the Aéro Club de France for the first aeronaut who should fly at least 40 kilomètres in a straight line. The actual speed maintained by the monoplane in flight, therefore, averaged about one kilomètre a minute. The machine, which has a wing surface of about 15 square mètres, was able to rise after, a suo of 30 mètres, and maintained in the air an even altitude of 40 or fo-mètres throughout the voyage.

The prize of £5ão is intended to be divided in the proportion of £100 to the pilot, ita to the constructor of the successful machine, LIB 10 the maker of the motor, and do to the maker of the propeller. As M. Blériot piloted a machine of his own invention, he will receive the greater part of the prize money.
