Thres launcher within, one month is a feat which any shipbuilding yard may be proud of. That has bean. accomplished by the Hongkong and Whampoa Deck Ld this morn ing, when the now Dilly, built to the order of the Portuguese Government, as represented in Hongkong by Mr. J. J. Leiria, Consul for Portugal, took the water in Hanghem Bay on the other side of the harbour. Too Kiané Ta and the Kiang Chi were successively launched in September and the Dilly to-day, making three vessels ia all to be built for the Chinese and Portuguese Governments, respectively, in

The subject of our notice to-day having been constructed to the order of the Portuguese Gov- ernment it followed that Madame Eeiria, wife of Consul Leirlà, should have been the central figure in the pretty ceremony at. Howloop to day, When the party of guests Ended from the special launch which conveyed them from Hongkong, at the farthest westerno ead of the shipyard, the Dilly was conspicuous by the quantity of bun ing which displayed. The platform for the accommoda. tion of visitors was also gaily " dressed" for the occasion. Among those present were:-Rear- Admiral R. H.S. Stokes nud Mrs, Stokes, Mr. Blanchflower, secretary to the Rear-Admiral; Capt. Germano Dias, ÂD.C. to the Brenmor pf. Macao, representing. His Exc_f< <y .hor Alves Rogidas Lient. Ventura, of the Portuguese Navy; Mr. Miranda. Guedes, Director of Public Works, Macao) Consul and Mudame J. J. Leina; Mr, voo, Wieser, Coosal for Austria, and Mme. von Wieser; Mr. Roht. Mitchell, chief manager, Hongkong and Whampoa Dock Co.; Mr. W. Wilson, mads- 'gar at Kowloon; Mr. J. L. de S. Alves and Miss Alves; Dr. and Mrs, Forsyth, Mr. and Mr. M. A. A. de Bouza, Misa E. Capt. Germano Dies ware his full military uniform with his numerous decorations includ. ing the insignia of the Torre de Spada for signal valour in the Cuamato campaign at which the present Governor of Macao won so much" distinction.
The most prominent feature, of the Dilly's decoration was undoubtedly the large Portu guese flag which flattered to the steady breeze from the fore of the new guard ship.
Slight drizzle fell as "the party of visitors landed at Kowloon and for a lule time after they had taken up thair positions' on 'the platform it is singular that no sooner did the Dilly slide down the ways, the sun pierced through the dark, lowering clouds lending brightness and colour to the scene around.
