THE GATILE İRADE.

TEMPORARY PROHIBITION.

The Manila Times, of 14th jost., says 1— A telegram has been sent to the Governor of Hongkong by the Bureau of Agriculture siating that owing to three successive shipment of cattle from Hongkong being infected with foot and mouth disease and tinderpest," in future no landing permits will by given shipments lear- ing that port.

The above virtually 'pute an end to the cattle traffic from Hongkong for the present, an ship pers will not go to the expense of having their catile quaraplined here with the chance of --having them returned to Hongkong and to pay all expenses. Any caule that may have been

afloat for the Philippians before the telegram was sent will, of course, be received and taken

ra of.

Conflicting opinipas are abroad as to where the catile actually become infected,. Some ber lieve the callle contract the diseases in Manila while others 'believe the yards in Hoogkong before shipment are the place where the animals become infected.
