In company with Mr. J. J. Leiria, Consul for Brazil, Commander Gomes Pereira and, the Flag-Lieutenant of the Brazilian cruiser Benjamin Count in paid a visit to Macao by the .. Heumahan yesterday. Ifis condition is not considered serious.. Shortly after noon on. the day in question a number of Chinese painters were engaged in painting the casing of the Afanchuria, which is situate near No. 4 hold. In order to do the work they stood on an uplifted plank. The foreman painter was supervising, the work from the deck. Suddenly, and without any warning, the plank gave way, the painters were thrown violently to the deck, while the foreman, who at that moment was standing a few feet away, received the full force of the falling plank on his feet. He was promptly attended to, and later, as we have already stated, conveyed to the Government Civil Hospital. None of the other paintorn was injured, "
