Although the track was fast it was very dusty and unpleasant for the riders; to the spectators there was nothing lacking. The expectancy attaching to the Champions was evident, all day. The chances of Brockton. and Moriak with 'Manchu King, Sokol and Worcester well upon in public favour, were the chief objects of discussion: Brockton, who had run second on three previous occasions, appear ed to be the most popular. The field was kept waiting for some little time for Brackton and cheers were heard as he appeared. Particulars of the race are given below, but it may be added that the race was one of the most interesting and well-ridden ever seen on the course. Brockton ran gamely and there is no doubt that he was as fit and well yesterday as he ever was, and that the three next ponies to the winner were ahead of record, time, Gemini's perso-mance was surprising to some Faxtent, but he is a good pony and his owner
may yet win a Champions with him.
