The weak under review has been devold of any feature of special interest, and our market continues more or less dull.
1.-
Books-The market for Hongkong, and Shangbai Banks has ruled very quiet at $695 "during the week, closing with probable seliora at the sale. In London, the quotation is un- charged:
Marine Jesurances. Cantons are on offer at $240 and North Chinos at 7. B3Sales of Unions have been effected at $840. Yangiszes old and now have buyers at quotations, · ·.
Fire Insurances-China Files are unching. ed and without business to report. Hongkong Fires have been sold at $295.
Shipping. There have been sales of Hong Kong, Canion & Macao Steamboats at $29, and more are wanted at the rate., Shell Transports continue quiet and neglected at 44/6. A further rise in Star Ferries has set in and buyers rule the market at 518 for the old and Sta for the new shares.
Refinarien-China Sugats are in demand at $110 but none are obtainable at the rate. In their report for the year ending 31st December, 1907, just issued to shareholders, the Gracial Managers of this Company state that is cop Lequence of levere competition in the China markets the price for Refined Sugar semained below the cost of production throughout the year, and exports to other markets were adi versely affected by the high rate of exchange
ruling. Under these circumstances the output of the Refinery was much reduced and the year's working resulted in a loss of $179.371-34 "which is carried forward to bEXI ACCOUN}.
Mining-Chinese Engineerings have buyers in the North at Tis. 14. Raubs are out of Lavour at 58.
