THE WEATHER. The following report is from Mr. F. G. Figg. Director of the Hongkang Observatory *;

On the 23rd at ins5 The baroveler has fallen, inoderately to considerably over the Loo choos and S. Japan, and a slight fall has taken place also over the China coast and Fermosa, It has risen slightly in the bilippines.

The depression remains very much elongated in a S.W. and N.E., direction, and differences of pressure at stations situated near its major Axis, S. Formoen to S.W, Japan, are small, Probably the area of actual lowest pressure is still situated to the liE of the Loochoos; and it appears to be moving slowly furthwards. Pressure is high, about o..inch, above the normal over E.

The above signal will, as heretofo hoisted only when typhoons exist in de positions or are moving in such directions that information regarding them is considered to be of importance to the Colony or to shipping. leaving the harbour.

These signals are repeated at the Harbour Office, H.M.S. Tamar, Green Islnd Signal Mast, and the Flagstaff on the premises of the Hongkong and Kowloon Wharf and. Godowa „Company at Kowloon,

URGENT SIGNAL:

In addition to the above, when it is expected that the wind may increase to fall typhoon; force at any moment, the following Urgent Sigoal will be made at the Water Police Station, and repeated at the Harbour Office

THREE EXPLOSIVE BOMIS, AT INTERVALS OF TEN SECONDS.

A Black Cross will be hoisted st. the sama time, superior to the other shapes,

The following Night Signals will be exhibit ed from the Flagstaff on the roof of the Water Police Station at Kowloda, the Harbour Ofre 7 lugstaff, and H.M.Ş. Tamar,

Three Lights Vertical, Green Grean Green, indicates that a typhoon is believed to be situated more than 300 miles from the Colony.

I Three Lights Vertical; Green Rad Green, indicates that a typhoon is believed to be iituated less than 300 miles from the Colony.

III. Thren Lights Vertical, Red Green Red, indicates that the wind may be expected to increase to full typhoon force at any moment

No. III. Sigant will be accompanied by the Explosive Bombs, as above, in the event of the information conveyed by this signal being first published by night.

There Night Signals, will be substituted the,.. the Day Signals at sunset, and will, when necessary, be altered during the night,
