The return of deaths from plague at Macao, so far, showed a total of 1,040, the highest since 1895 when it was 1,163. On this Mr. Humphreys minuted if these figures prove anything at all, they prove that there is something in the Chinese contention that plague is due to atmospheric conditions primarily, and that ditt merely assists its growth.
