This afternoon the Secretary, for Mines (Mr. Dickson received a telegram from the Warden at Dynolly stating that a nugget weighing 1,200 02, had been discovered at the "Pasai- dan" rush by Stevenson and party. Mr. Dick son immediately sent a telegram to the Warden

don é nugget weighing 963 on, in the rough, Up to that time this was believed to be the largest nugget discovered in Victoria for the past forty years. No complete record of the big yields of gold won in Victoria in the early Ofties was aver compiled.. There is little doubt, however that in regard to larga Australian Ander Victoria's record is the best. It includes the fallowing nuggets :-"The Welcome Stranger,”. found February 9th, 1869, 190 lbs. or 2,340 ox.; "The Welcome," found June 9th, 1858. 164 ibi, 9 oz., or 2,217 oz, ; puggai found at Cana. djan gully, January 31st, 1893, 134 lbs. it oz., of 1,619 oz. ; another Victórián nugget, 98 lbs. I oz, or 1,177. oz. ; the next most important of the Victorian nuggets weighed ĝo lbs. r.oz, or 1,117 of.
