12th January. The death of the Rev. William Haig Brown, Master of Chaterhouse, is announced,

German Colonisation. Herr Dernberg, addressing the German Chambers of Commerce, said that the Colquial policy meant the solution of the labour question, bread for millions, and the employment of German capital in trade, in- dustry and navigation. The world was rapid- ly becoming British. The American and Japanese were ousting Germans from South America, China, and elsewhere, and the only posible counterpoise was the development of the colonies.

SI, PATRICK'S CLUB.

We understand that the members of St. Patrick's Club held their annual meeting last night which did neither tend to deviate from the traditions of the Hibernian sons or hinder the element of conviviality so saturat to the some of the Isle. One was forcibly reminded of the days of Henry Grattan when the pro- position to amend rule 3 was made, which was ultimately cot carried,

Mr. F. H. McDillon produced the Club's accounts which showed a prosperous financial condition' during the year ending 1906,

Much credit is due to the Rev. President who by his untiring and energetic disposition has brought the Club to such a successful condition.
