DANCERS, OF BONACIC ACID.

HOW THE PUBLIC ARE BEING POISONED BV foon.."

Dr. D. L. Thomas, medical officer of health for Stepney, deals with the effect of boracic acid (which is used largely as a preservative in food) upon the consumer in a report he has just presented.

According to Dr. Wylie's report to the United States Board of Agriculture, says Dr. Thonias, experiments on the direct effect of boracic acid when administered on food showed that, taken in small quantities-less than 7 grains per day no noticeable results are immediately produced. The symptoms of the cases where small doses are given for a lengthened period, or larger doses extending over a shorter period, produce a feeling of fullness and uneasiness in the stomach.

In some cases these symptoms result in nausea, with a general tendency to produce a sense of fullness in the head, often manifested a dull and persistent headache..
