THE SUGAR MARKET.
On Friday Reuter transmitted a most important message to the Colony which is not without considerable interest to all those interested in one of the staple industries of Hongkong. Mr. Scott's motion in the House of Commons that Great Britain with draw from the Sugar Convention was with drawn upon the statement of Mr. Lloyd George that, though the convention had not achieved the anticipated results, a with drawal at the present time would cm. barrass Great Britain.
