It is even maintained that the Japanese immigrant is more objec tionable that the Chinese. The conclusion is that should a Japanese invasion be permit tell, the Au erican labourer will be forced into hoboism and criminality by the fierce Competition of the degraded Asiatic Inbour, and that it behoves all good Americans to rigorously push forward a crusade against Japanese immigration.

One of the crew remarked that they were not frightened at all. They had signed to go to longkong and here they intended to stay. They refused to go to Japan.

Inspector of Detectives, Mr. J. Hanson, and from investigation made the following facts were gathered. On the 18th inst., Pan, who had just arrived from Canton, called upon Li Hin Cheung, the accountant, who was an old friend of his, and borrowed $100, on security which was to be handed over later. On the 20th just, Pan went back and called upon Li, ato, 30 fting Lung Street, and there gave him twa deposit receipts for $5,000 (aggregate) issued by the Wo Wai Bank, which had su pended payment at the end of last year, but on which considerable dividends are expected to be forthcoming in due course, with the understanding that Li would collect all that was due on the receipts, and, after deducting the 5.00 advanced, pay the balance to Pan.
