It is hardly necessary to descend into details order to convince our readers that pain and suffering are a heritage into which the Chinese enter, to an extent unknown, fortunately, in the West. A few days since, a doctor told of a young girl, who was brought to him suffering from some comparatively slight ailment. But

This is the normal condition of affairs. There is a wide and dense ignorance on the part of those who profess knowledge, and so the tide of suffcting rolls on.
