From the W. C. D. News of the 9th inst. we take the following

Matters continue more lively than usual at the Imperial Bank of China which even yester. day was kept open to satisfy a large number of Chinese, kept on making sure of their dollars. The presence of a force of police was efectual in maintaining order. On Saturday there was considerable excitement, stones being thrown and rushes made at the police, and the Bank was kept open till four in the afternoon, for the purpose of redeeming notes. It is announced that there is sufficient silver in hand at the bank to redeem all the notes remaining in circulation.

Although it has not been the custom of the above-named-Rank to open its doors to busi ness on Sundays, yet, in view of the run upon it by holders of notes of the Bank and to give confi'ence to the public, the doors were kept open yesterday, as on week days, in order to enable anxious, holders, to cash their notes, Up to Saturday afternoon it is stated that no- less than $500,000 worth of its notes have been redeemed by the Bank, which has funds lu cash to redeem a million dollars worth more if called upon to do so. It is further stated that when it became certain that a run on the Bank was imminent, Sheng Kungpao, who is the Chief Director of the concern," at oncă procured $700,000 in cash for the Bank and on the third day the Bank vaults were replenished by

similar amount. Forge nots were, however, rejected by the Bank, whose offeinls merely impressed a certain chop on the TRADE FACILITIES TO SOUTH Counterfeits when presented, with the advice That the holders should keep them and await the result of the investigations that were being. made into the matter.
