According to the Shanghai Times, disquiet ing rumours have been circulated to the effect that in certain districts of the province of Chihli, the people have rebelled. The troops sent by viceroy Yuan Shih Kai have been defeated. According to the latest information all the local officials of the district have been killed by the rioters. The viceroy is greatly disap: pointed at the cowardice of his troops and intends to personally go to the scene of the disturbance.
