Take for instance the roads in the vicinity of the Kowloon Godowns. There is a tremendous traffic upon them and yet they are generally in a shocking state of repair. A double line of tram way runs along them, and, more often than not, there are ruts alongside the, metals, which from very nasty traps for rick- shas. It is nouncommon thing to see a ricksha tuming into Elgin Road capsized by a wheel catching in one of these ruts, and only a couple of days age we saw a lady thus upset and thrown violently out of her ricksha.
