THERAPION.
This succesful and highly popular remedy, as employed in the Continental Hospitals by Ricord, Kostan, Jobert, Velpeau, and others, combines all the desiderata to be sought in a' medicine of the kid, And surpasses everything hitherto employed.
THERAPION No. 1, in a few days only, removes all discharges from the urinary organe, effectually superseding injections, the use of which does irreparable harm by laying the BOARD. foundation of stricture and other serious dis- eases. In dysentery, piles; irritation of the lower, bowel, cough, bronchitis, asthma, and some of the more trying complaints of this kind, it will be found astonishingly efficacious, affording prompt relief where other well-tried remedies have been powerless.
OWNERS of HOUSES situated in the Division of the City of Victoria and in the Eastern Division of Kowloon who have not had their Premises LIME- WASHED and CLEANSED in accordance with Law, are reminded that the period during which this work should be FINISHED ends on the 28th day of FEBRUARY, 1902, and the Sanitary Board being convinced of the necessity of cleanliness in its efforts to stamp outlay is determined to rigorously prosecute any owner in default after the above named date.
The Easter Division of the City lies to the East of Garden Road. The. Eastern Division of Kowloon is all that part of the Kowloon Peninsula to the East of Robinson Road and includes Hung Hem and part of Tsim-cha-tsui,

❘
The relief ship Morning, which will follow the Discovery this summer, is now in dock in the Thames.

AN
BREACH OF PROMISE
INFANT" OFFICER SUED.
The record was closed by the Edinburgh Court of Sessions, says a mail paper, in an action for breach of promise of marriage brought by Miss Lily Mary Whitehead, booking clerk! at the Royal Lyceum Theatre, Edinburgh, against Lieutenant Ivor John Douglas Philipps.
of the Royal Highlanders (Black Watch), at present stationed at Edinburgh Castlor £2,000 damages are claimed.
According to the plaintiff the young officer. on auaining bla majority will succeed to a fortune of several thousand pounds, besides
being the heir of certain estates in Fifeshire to
which be will succeed through his mother."
Lieutenant, Philipps, who is stated to be about five years younger than Miss Whitehead, was introduced to her by a mutual friend at the beginning of March last year at the theatre, and constantly went there to see her.
He is alleged to have written on April 8: "1 like you so much, too, think you are one of the nicest girls I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. You are so different to others, and I' am so hard to please.
On April at the plaintiff says he wrote: " often wish to come or rather be sitting beside you all day long, as I love to be in your comp any. With heaps of love.
And again on April 30: Last night I went to bed and took your photo with me, and went to sleep holding it next my heart. That shows. day every time I have come into the room. bow much I care for you. I have kissed it to- Don't think any the worse of me, as I really can't help it.'
On May 11 the plaintiff received this letter: My own darling,-Just a wee letter to say that I worship you, and that don't think I am likely to change. Ever your own loving sweet. heart, Ivor."
Lieutenant Philipps, the plaintiff asserts, subsequently proposed and was accepted. He now pleads, however, that be does not attain ' his majority until 1963, and is not bound by any promise of marriage without the consent of his curator
