The reean commerce of Tacoma for the year 1901 will show an enormous growth along all lines, Trade with Japan and China has been picking "p rapidly during the past few months and seems to be constantly growing. The end of the year 100 will show imports to Tacoma from Japan and China to have increased over $3,000,000 over the year 1900. Total imports to Tacoma to date for the present year amount in value to $5,214,389 as against abour $5,534,626 for the entire twelve months of 1900. One large cargo from China and Japan is ex cepted to arrive set this month, being that of the Northern Pacific liner Glenegle, about Thursday, hes reds which the entire nonth
of December yet remains. May was the
heaviest month in the niatter of imports fron these two countries to Taconia, nearly a million. dellars worth of Chinese and Japanese mer- chandise being brought in that month, The principal imports are, of course, silk, mating. tea, strawbraid, curios and inisellaneous mer chandise of Oriental manufacture.
