CANCER :—The announcement that Lady Margaret Marsham had been cured of cancer by the application of fresh green violet leaves continues to excite much interest in the medical profession. It has been pointed out by a West-end cancer specialist that a hundred years ago violet leaves were believed to be a remedy for the disease, but there remained no record of any well-attested cure by that means. The same authority was disposed to believe that a mistake had been made in the diagnosis of Lady Marsham's case, and although he ad- mitted that within the last fifty years cancer had been cured in one or two isolated cases, it was difficult, he maintained, to explain how even these few cures had been effected, and nothing to guide the generality of cases had been obtained.'
