In a Financial minute It, E. the Governor recommended the Council to vote a sum of $10,000, in aid of the vote of $50,000 for "the Governor's Peak Residence "under the hending "Public Works Extraordinary.

The Hon. Colonial Secretary moved that it be referred to the finance Committee.

The Hon. Masser seconded. Carried.

PUBLIC WORKS.

The Hon, Director of Public Works noved

H. E. The Goremor recommended the Council to vote $200 in aid of the vote "Inci. dental Expenses, Government House," and the Council agreed.

EXCHANGE.

The Council also agreed to H. E. The Governor's recommendation of 4661.62 to meet the deficiency in the rate of exchange in connection with the laying of a cable for the Government by the Telegraph Company.

Standing in the name of the Hon., Acting Attorney General was the following motion. That the Sunding Rules and Orders of this Council made in pursuance of Article XIX of the Royal Instructions of the 19th day of January, 1888, and dated the 9th day' of June, 1890, and amended by the Legislative Council on the 17th day of June, 1900, be further amended as follows:-

That No. 10 of the said-Rules and Orders be amended by removing the words "on receipt" following the word "Clerk" in paragraph 5. and inserting them between the words "shall" and "be" on the first line, and that the words "of the Council" be inserted after the word **Clerk.

H.E. The Governor said he had been advised by the Hon. Acting Attorney General, who was unable to be presen, that the Rules were not quite ready.
