The intelligence of his death has caused profound regret among the members of the force as the deceased was a most popular officer. It appears that of March and the constable was stariding within the Flongkew Police Station, when he noticed a dog enter the compound. He patted the animal on the head in a most friendly manner, and it was during the caressing that the rur turned and bit the constabler "on" the leg. In repelling the animal Ellefsen also was bitten on, the hand, and it was from this date that the dreaded disease developed. himself into the hands of Dr. Stanley and symptoms were discernable the constable pit was treated util the 17th instant. Ellefsen then retumed to duty and thought that all danger way passed. On Saturday, however, he developed hydrophobia, and was admitted to ike General Hospital. For some hours before his death at sigo last night the decensed suffered fearful agony, and had to be inreibly held down in bed by two of his comrades, This is the third officer who has been bitten by dogs duling the past four months, Constable Richardson unly returning to duty on Friday List, while Constable O'Donnell who developed hydrophobi and whis is undergoing treatment | 1761- Rev. It must be readily apparent to you that an un- numbered Vocabulary will be of han little cons mercul value, as compared with a numbered one, and as the commercial public will even tually have to pay the major portion of cost of the proposed work, they are entitled to the most perfect and useful form of issue.
