Captain Stowell, master of the steamer Chunskan, reported on arrival here at noon that the British steamer Exs, Captain Pell, which left bore for Saigon, yesterday was ashore on the Samoan Group, south of Lingting, and about 15 miss from Hongkong. The Ess ls 1368 tons met, was built in Sunderland in 1887 and is owned by the Merchantile Steamship Co. Ltd., of London. Messrs. Dodwell, Carill & Co. are agents for the owners, and immediately on receipt of the news they arranged that the Dock Company should send the tag Fams, with appliances, to render assistance.
