The Rifle Association's Prize Meeting was brought to a conciunión yesterday with the Ladies' Tournament and Ladies! Competition. At the Police Court the Fourth Preisdency Magistrate convicted Kalidas Sakalchunder, Editor of the Ahmadabad Timas, for publishing in that paper defimatory alleguilons_against Hargovindas Dwarkadaam. Kuntawalla, Director of Vernacular Publlo Instruction at Bardds, charging him with robbery, and plunder" of Government money, financial jebbery, zoguery, and disgraceful conduci. In passing a sentence of six months and one day's simple imprison ment, the Magistrato said: "I must consider not only the gravity of the charges made bet the persistency with which they were repeated and sought to be proved." Counsel for defen- dant intimated his Intention to appeal to the High Court.

RANGDON, March rýth, An official Press Note has been liased on the recent murder of a Publie Werks subordinate, samed Daily, in the Northern Shan States, which says that Mr. Dally was murdered on the night of the 6th, or morning of the 7th instant, on the Nammaw Road, near the Safween Rali- way camp, at Nangkyo, in Thonso. The murder was committed by Nga San, s'acreast of the deceased, who killed him with a dak, Thibaw Sawbwa has offered a reward of R. 5,000 for the arrest of the servant and another man, who is believed to be implicated. Both men had recently arrived in Thongs from Burma.
