SPECIAL SANITATION FOR SEAPORTS.
TO THE EDITUR of the "Horokoro Talmirajı." DEAR SIR-We are rather late im referring to the account of the mealing of the Hongkong Sanitary Board reported in your issue of August 2nd. The delay, however, affords us the oppor: tunity of sending you a copy of the paper read before the Bills Association at Ipswich by Mr. Napier on the working of the Hermite Process in that town. When we sent various pamphlets on the subject to the Secretary of your Sanitary Board we at least expected to important a mater would have been treated seriously, and that it would not have been discussed by the members of the Board ill they and the Secretary had had time to digest the contents of the pamphlets. But it appears that the Secretary, and be alone, bad glanced through the papers for the first time just before the
meeting.
We have been under the impression (owing perhaps to bus simplicity) that the sewerage of the principal towns in England is rather superior to that of towns abroad. If this in so, how fait that nearly every Medical Officer of Health acknowledges that the health of the towns under their charge raps great danger through the. poisonous geses evolved from by peaceful

We do not complain of your Sanitary Board not adopting it off-hand. All we expected and all wen wask ls that they should give the maller their continued watchful attention. And, to make experiments for our benefit, let them get rid of the idea that we wish them We have long ago pissed that stage.
