The managers of the Chesapeake and Ohla Canal are seriously consitering the advisability of using electricity as a motivo power. No other canal in the c-untry has an equal amount of water-power. From Cumberland to Georgetown it har mere locks and down grades than aST other, and is, beside, higher than the river for imost its entire length. Should it be found a practicable undertaking the canal will be covered with a series of trolley wires for its entire length, distance of about one hundred and eighty miles. At intervals of twenty or thirty miles, where the water-power is the best, power-houses will be erected where sufficient electricity will- be generated to supply more than the usual demand made upon it and it is thought that by means of asadults, the current might be carried isto Washington and used for iluminating purposes.
