A serious accident happened on the afternoon of the 4th instant at the village of Ma Tan, about Anchorage. Three men, with a piece of iron, 2 miles from the Custom House at Pagoda were trying to get out some pun-powder which 774]

caked in a French shell, left since the bombard- ment of 1884 when the shell exploded, killing

men, and wounding another so seriously that be died the following day. A little boy, who was standing near, received a large gash in the side, and a broken arm. He has been put in the Seamen's Hospital. The sides and floor of the hause were shattered, hat the roof remained foto
