It cannot be said at present whether the job can be accomplished or not.
There are other channels which vessels bound to and from Shanghal may use.
Three months havs elapsed since the vessel was sunk and only one vessel has touched the wreck, and ibis was due to misunderstanding instructions given in Hongkong. The wreck was grazed without le jury being done.
Other vessels have followed the notice given and have not touched the wreck. The danger is the same as that caused by rucks,
The position of the Peking has been publicly announced, which if observed, bearings being taken, it can be easily avoided.
The execution was attended with the most painful circumstances and a vell must be drawn -over-the-detalls, suffice it to say that as the executioner could not prevail upon the man to kneel, he essayed to decapitate him while stand- used seven times before the execution was complete. Of course it would have been other wise had the man knelt, but he could not be induced to do so, and it would have taken several ordinary men to have forced him into the position, as he was a stalwart athlete of great physical power. There were murmurs amongst the lookers.on at the shocking manner in which the execution was performed, but when the execuiloner was proceeding to carry out his further orders (the quartering) the uproar amongst the people was so great that the carry- ing out of that part of the sentence had to be abandoned. The head was sent to Tek-bua for exhibition in a public place, as a warning to the people there.

A very enjoyable social fanction on new lines took place here a few days ago when Mr. and Mrs. Anderson of the National Bank of China gave a malezi "at home" in their pleasant reiidence on Kulangan.
