In the London Appeal Court, on the roth nilims, before the Master of the Rolls, Lord Justice Fry, and Lord Justice Lopes, the case

Hoarson v. Churchill and others" came on for hearing. It was an appeal by Hugh R, Hearson, who was an engineer on her Majesty's ship Pembroke, from the verdict of Mr. Justice Deo- man and a special jury in February last. The appellant had had an appointment offered to blm as instructor at the Nankin College, in time to entitle him to resign his position in Her China, and, as he had put la sufficient Majesty's navy is half-pay, he sent in his resignation. The Admiralty authorities, oning to some dispute with Chinese officials, refused to accept the appellant's resignation, and be started for the Far East without their acceptance. He was, by order of the Admiralty, arrested at Singapore and brought back to this country He had brought an action against the Admiralty for his treatment. Judgment had been given against him, and he now apperiod and siked. for a new trial. Their Lordships dismissed the appeal.
