The GERMAN CUP was the next event, and It turned out a very uninteresting contest owing to the Victoria. (F. L. Jackson, stroke) having walk over; the Shamrock "beaving to when off the Navy Yard. There is such a thing as "overdoing," and it was only too evident that Mr. Kennedy, the siroke of the Shamrock, had over-trained both himself and his crew.

The Mat event of this year's eminently success ful regalia was the eight-oared race, Club. United Services, which was a grand "treat for lovers of aquatic sport. The United crew went off with a sport at start and quickly placed length between themselves and the Club bost. They then slowed down to a stendy 40 per minute, which they maintained throughout; winning a wirowed race in the very commonest of canters, The Club men were never "In It," from start to finish, but made a game spurt towards the end and thereby succeeded in reducing the defeat to about three lengths only)

On Thursday the wind was wretched, and "galling" was about as exciting as the excursion of the late Mr. Noah in his home made fishing jank.
In the half-decker race Effe, through her better handling, made the most of the supposed wind, and led from start to finish. Took them all day to get there. Hi-yah second, Kitten third, and the other two out in the cold.
