Commercial.

THE WEEKS SHARE BUSINESS.

Hongkong, 20th September, 1890. Business has been very quiet all the week, but the feeling was strong, and the market has shewn signs of improvement,

Banks.-Have declined to 224 per cent. at which rate small sales have been made and further, shares are now wanted at this rate. On time they were done at 237 per ment; for the 30th January 1891. New Issue have been done at 200 cash.

Marines Insurances.-Traders were done at 62 ex Dividend, and further shares are wanted, Unions and Cantons are quiet at 101 and 120 respectively.

Fires. Hongkong are offering at 350 and Chinas at 88.

Docks. Have steadily declined to 65, at which rate the market is weak.

Steamships-Douglas' were done at 52,

and further shares are wanted at this rate. Steamboats. Some large sales were done at 35 for the settlement and 36 for December, market closing very weak.

Sugar Refiners. Some small sales were done at 171 for cash and future shares are offering. Luzon have declined to 110, at which rate a number of shares are offering

Lands were done at from 93 to 9: for cash, and shares are now freely offered at 92.

Mining Stocks.-Punjoms are quite, neglected again at 6. Imuris were done at 9, and shares are now offering at 84.

Trust and Loan are weak at 174 and

Founders at-£200.

Tobaccos. A sudden demand for these shares have set in, and after a number of shares have changed hands rates are firm -East Borneos at 19-and Songeis at 14.
