Ir is notified in the Government Gazelle that Messrs. Phiness Ryrie and James Johnston Keswirk have been provisionally re-appointed unofficial members of the Legislative Council by the Officer Administering the. Government, until her Majesty's pleasure may be signified.” We don't object to these two influential citizens retaining their seats at the Council board, and we are quite sure that her Majesty will raise no objections. The matter may therefore be regarded as finally settled. But, one of these fine days the Hongkong community, will want to elect its representatives by popular vote, and that is the object which the present unofficial members should leave no stone unturned to
attain.
