TO-DAY.

THE SHARE MARKET.

So'clock.

Share business has been quiet to-day, and with one or two exceptions stocks all round show a weaker tendency. Banks have been in rather better odour, as after dropping to 196, shares were placed at 198 for cash and 207 for March. Hongkong Fires, which changed hands yesterday at Chiba 400, were not inquired after. Sugars were out of favor et a24, but, on the other hand, Luzons were rushed up from 69 to 75, transfers being effected at intermediate rates. We don't know the strength of this latest "boom" but, so far: as can be seen, It appears to have solid "backing." Punjoms are wanted at 20, but few shares are on the market just now, and none at that figure. Land Investments have depreciated," cash business having been reported at 105, and some small salės are said to have been booked at 106. for March. Other quotations are purely nominal.
