position in the market, a result. no doubt owing to the threatening aspect of the political atmosphere in Europe, North China Insurance stock has depreciated slightly, the scrip being now on offer at 1400 tiels per share. A fair amount of business has been transacted in the Steam. boat Company's stock at the increased rate of 50 per share premium; but singu larly enough, in spite of what would or dinarily be deemed a mark of confidence, these transactions appear to have tended. rather to weaken the position of the stock in the market.
