Commercial.
THIS DAY.
Noon. Share Business has been particularly quiet this morning, not a single transac tion of importance having come under our notice. Banks are slightly weaker, a number of shares having been placed un the market at 138 for the end of the month without being taken up, and we fancy that cash offers of 137 would not be allowed to go begging. There have been a few inquiries after Hongkong Fires at 1030, without however leading to actual business, holders declining to sell unless at an increased rate. Docks are in de mand at 53 per cent., premiuni,· and probably transfers will be effected during The day at an advanced quotation. Luzons are on offer at 103 without attracting buyers and a few Steamboats might be secured at 324 pershare premium, for cash.
4 o'clock p.m. Nothing noteworthy has transpired since we last wrote. A few Docks have changed hands at 53, the stock closing very firm at the quotation. A small business has also been transacted in Luzons at 103, for October 31st, and plenty shares might be obtained on similar terms. We have heard of no movements either in Fire or Marine Insurances, and other stocks require no special reference.
