Young people are encouraged in vigorous activities to coun- teract the cramping effects of urban overcrowding. Many school or youth groups or- ganized by the Education or Social Welfare Departments, or by voluntary bodies, give fa- cilities for healthy recreation. Here some girl campers on a country hike have a drink at a village standpipe, far from city water-rationing. In a bay on the south of Hong Kong Island, boys whose prospects would not otherwise be good are trained for a life at sea. (see paragraphs 22 and 29).
