CONTRACT NO. 47 of 1922.
FIRE STATION BUILDING.
CONTRACTORS: MESSRS. TROLLOPE & COLLS (FAR EAST) LTD.
4th Quarterly Report ending 30th June, 1925.
Laid before the Legislative Council by Command of His Excellency the Governor on the 24th September, 1925.
The progress during the quarter has been fairly satisfactory but unless the work is expedited considerably, it is probable the contract will not be completed in the stipulated time. Concrete work to the 3rd, 4th, and 5th floors is now complete and is at present being laid in the flat roof.
The rough casing to stancheous of blocking course is about half completed and concrete work will be commenced in the course of a few days. A considerable amount of brickwork has been erected to the 3rd and 4th floors and the loor and window frames. have been fixed as the work proceeded. The present unsettled labour conditions have not interfered to any great extent with the usual progress of the work, excepting the case of bricklayers who ceased work on June 30th. There still remain an approximate number of 80 men employed on the building.
22nd July, 1925.
HAROLD T. CREASY,
Director of Public Works.
