A. Two or three days only.
Q-Do they ask for explanation, or do they take it on the signature of the Surveyor General ?
A.-I don't remember.

A. Yes.
Q-Well, when you get a bill, it may be for brick-work, or request for an advance on a contract, then you make out a pay sheet?
A. Yes.
Q.-And that is in fact the request to the Audit Office?
A. Yes.
Q. Do you send this to the Audit Office?
A. Yes.

A. Yes, as soon as it is signed by. Mr. PRICE.
Q.-Does Mr. PRICE have to sign this before it goes to the Audit Office?
A. Yes, he signs the pay sheet.
Q.-When that bundle of bills goes to the Audit Office, what they do with it?
A.-That I cannot say.
Q.-What is the object of sending it there?
A.-To see that the payment is correct, that the man is entitled to the money.
