79. Transmitter interruptions during the two years under review were principally due to power failures which amounted to only about 51⁄2 hours for each programme service. Work has commenced on building the emergency power house, and with its completion there should be a consideration reduction in the time that the transmitters are off the air.
CONCLUSION
80. I should like to place on record my appreciation of the hard work, diligence and loyalty shown by all members of my staff and those of Cable and Wireless Ltd. during the past two years, which have been particularly trying ones for the department. I am also grateful to the many members of the public who have taken part in broadcasts or offered helpful advice and criticism.
