The VHF/FM mast at Mount Gough is a well known land mark of the Colony. It has been specially con- structed to withstand the high wind speeds which are often with typhoons.

The FM transmitters are two pairs of Marconi BD 5 kw. type BD 321 carrying the English and Chinese Services respectively. The station is normally unmanned but is regularly serviced by Cable & Wireless engineers.
