which stand in the way of church unity. The series 'The Divided Churches' was broadcast in conjunction with the Church Unity Octave.

DRAMA

78. A gratifying aspect of radio drama in Hong Kong has been the continuing enthusiasm shown by amateur actors and actresses who make up the casts of radio plays. Many of those auditioned and selected in early 1962 remained on the drama producer's register, and their willing- ness to learn microphone technique and to act convincingly without the stimulus of a 'live' audience has made possible the creations of a hard core of radio actors whose work approaches professional standard.

79. Although, because of the requirements of other programmes, the shortage of studio facilities became acute during one period of the year a steady flow of productions was maintained. Notable amongst these were 'The Bank Clerk' by Gerald SPARROW, 'The Heiress' adapted from Henry JAMES' novel 'Washington Square' and 'A Pain About Six Inches Above Your Head' by Norman SMITHSON.

80. In the autumn Radio Hong Kong staged it's first live City Hall Theatre production 'Masters of the Spoken Word'. The main feature was an adaptation of the Welsh Poet Dylan THOMAS' 'Under Milkwood'. The performances were recorded and broadcast later in the year.

82. Other light entertainment programmes which enjoyed success were 'A Handful of Strings' with the Tony Carpio Trio; a recorded programme of 'Tocca Bossa' with Frankie FONSECA and Jill HOLLOWAY; and 'Round the World on a Guitar String' presented by an itinerant musician, Eric LUCAS.

83. The well-known American jazz clarinetist, Tony SCOTT, toured the world extensively in 1962 and 1963 and recorded during his travels
