a special bulletin of racing news was broadcast on the eve of each Jockey Club meeting.
59. 'Sports Roundup' is a general sports talk, 'Sports Forecast' ranges over the coming weekend's games and has been most successful in gauging the results of soccer matches. The major programme, 'Sports Cavalcade', combines a weekly roundup of news, extracts from commentaries on soccer matches, swimming galas, athletic competi- tions, boxing tournaments and so on; interviews with sports person- alities and all the popular Chinese sports are covered.
60. Live commentaries on soccer matches are broadcast every weekend throughout the season, and in addition commentaries are broadcast on other major events such as the cross-harbour race, the dragon boat races, the Walkathon, road races, and major horse races such as the Kwantung Handicap, the Pearce Memorial and the Hong Kong Derby.
Talks and Storytelling
61. The Hok Hoi Library again collaborated with Radio Hong Kong in a series of twenty seven talks on various aspects of Chinese culture. Another series of twenty four talks dealt with poetry.
62. Storytelling sessions were increased from ten to fourteen a week, including one session in Kuoyu. The Air Doctor maintained a weekly series of talks on health and general hygiene and many other talks were included in magazine programmes.
63. The British Council were responsible for a series of weekly talks which began in October and carried through until the end of the year. These talks were translated and condensed versions of public lectures given in the Council's Hong Kong and Kowloon offices and ranged over British professional institutions, universities and colleges and industry.
Women and Children
64. Programmes for women were increased during the year; to the dramatized dialogues used for several years as a means of getting across household and domestic management, child care, home economics, etc., were added 'Enquire Within' and a daily 'Housewives' Choice' request programme.
65. The dramatized dialogues dealt with a wide range of subjects including narcotics, night noise nuisance, adult health, the dangers of kite flying in busy streets, fire precautions, etc.
