68. Station KIRO in Seattle provided especially for Radio Hong Kong a half hour recorded programme on the Washington Trade Fair, in which Hong Kong participated. The Hong Kong stand at the British Industries Fair was described in English and Chinese in two programmes recorded for Radio Hong Kong by the B.B.C.

69. The General Manager of the Australian Broadcasting Commission asked for help in selecting candidates for a Mandarin service which Radio Australia was starting. Adver- tisements were put in the press in Hong Kong, and six selected candidates were given translation and voice tests by Radio Hong Kong.

A fortnightly series of transcriptions from the A.B.C. were broadcast, entitled "Trade Catalogue" and negotiations were begun for a series of magazine programmes on Australian life to be recorded by the A.B.C. for listeners in Hong Kong.

70. A series of programmes under the title "Canada Calling" were broadcast, and were sent to Hong Kong in recorded form from the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation.

71. Occasional transcriptions in English and Mandarin were broadcast from United Nations Radio, and several high quality musical transcriptions were broadcast by courtesy of Radio Nederland.

72. The possibility of programme exchanges between Radio Hong Kong and Radio Malaya, Radio Sarawak and Radio Sabah (North Borneo) was explored but at the end of the year, no firm arrangements had been made.
