the Board of Trade, the Companies Registry and the Government Actuary's Office. The ready assistance and the courtesies extended to the Registrar General during these visits are gratefully acknowledged.
Miscellaneous
212. During the year several Solicitors and an Assistant Registrar of the Department gave a number of lectures on the law relating to Companies and Bankruptcy to members of the Royal Hong Kong Police Force, Assistant Labour Officers and final-year students of the Hong Kong Technical College.
Staff
213. Two Assistant Solicitors left the Department during the year. Mr. C. LEE Yeh-kwong in June and Mrs. M. POON YAU Choi-pak in August. On 16th June 1970 Mr. A. J. C. NORTH, Solicitor, joined the Department, and Mr. P. MURPHY, Solicitor, who had been with the Department from 1964 to 1967, rejoined the Department on 19th January 1971. At the end of the year, the Department was one short of its establishment of Solicitors.
214. Mr. James SZE, Assistant Registrar Class I, who had retired in 1966 after 18 years in the Department and had been re-engaged on month-to-month terms, finally left Government service on 27th August 1970. Mr. Sze's departure was marked by a ceremony at which he was presented with a gold shield from his colleagues. During the year two Assistant Registrars Class II, Mr. WONG Hon-tze and Mr. LAU Sai-koi, were promoted to Class I. Mr. WONG subsequently transferred to the Treasury Accountant grade on 1st September 1970.
215. The Departmental Secretary, Mr. D. J. MOOSA, was transferred to the Public Works Department in June 1969 and was replaced by Mr. P. A. LAW on transfer from the Urban Services Department.
Photographic Section
216. The Department has a Photographic Section equipped with a Photostat machine Model 4 Type P, capable of copying plans, documents registers, etc. up to four feet by three feet in size, a Verifax copier capable of taking up to six foolscap copies from one matrix, and a Rank Xerox 720 Copier for copying documents, etc. up to 9 inches by 14 inches.
