75. During the year the Board inquired into and approved the applications of fourteen auditors and five auditing firms for admission to Part I, and of sixteen auditors and four auditing firms for admission to Part II, of the Authorized List. At the end of the year there were 121 individuals and 37 firms on Part I of the List and 100 individuals and 30 firms on Part II. Of these, 63 individuals and 26 firms were on both Parts. In recent years more and more Chinese accountants have qualified for admission to Part I of the List, and it is interesting to record that out of the 121 individuals on this Part of the List 68 are Chinese. The important part played by the Australian Society of Accountants in the training of accountants in Hong Kong is demon- strated by the fact that 35 of these 68 Chinese auditors are members of that Society.
