67. The Committee held two meetings during the year, and advertisements inviting representations from members of the public were advertised in the English and Chinese press on 22nd and 23rd October 1962 and repeated on the 22nd and 23rd November 1962. In addition various professional and other bodies were invited to submit their views and representations on the matters included in the Committee's terms of reference. The latest date for the submission of representations was originally fixed at 31st December 1962, but at the request of one or two bodies the time was extended to 28th February 1963.

Money-Lenders

68. Seventeen money-lenders licences were issued under the Money- Lenders Ordinance (Cap. 163) one less than in 1961-62. The fee for such a licence is $500 per annum.

Deposits by Fire, Marine and Life Insurance Companies

69. The deposits made by insurance companies with the Registrar of Companies under the Fire and Marine Insurance Companies Deposit Ordinance (Cap. 34), and those made under the Life Insurance Com- panies Ordinance (Cap. 36), are shown in Tables XII and XIII respectively.

Chinese Partnerships Ordinance (Cap. 31)

70. There are twenty-two partnerships on the Register, only one of which has been registered since the war (in 1959-60). The other twenty- one were registered before 1935, and many are probably no longer in existence.

Limited Partnerships Ordinance (Cap. 37)

71. Three limited partnerships were registered during the year, bringing the total number registered to fifteen. The Ordinance, which applies only to such partnerships as in the opinion of the Registrar of Companies can properly be described as non-Chinese partnerships (Chinese partnerships being registrable under the Chinese Partnerships
