12. Considerable progress was made on the preparation of the new Street Index. All Memorials, Crown Leases, Conditions of Sale, Grant, Exchange etc. recorded in the Land Office since January, 1938, have been examined, and 20,260 Index Cards have been prepared in respect of new or revised entries, 1,109 for Roads, Streets, Lanes etc. as published in the 1938 Street Index, and 219 for new Roads, Streets, Lanes etc., which have been named since 1938.

13. It is now clear that in addition to the detailed check of Land Office records a physical check of Street Numbers will have to be made, and it is not expected that the revised edition of the Street Index will be available to the public until the summer of 1956.
