Surrenders of Crown Leases.

5. 79 Deeds of Surrender to the Crown comprising 136 lots or sections were registered in 1954/55. The total of the consideration paid for these Surrenders was $1,282,420.

Fees.

Land Office fees (exclusive of fees collected in the District Land Offices) totalled $324,741.10, another record figure.

In the New Territories, Land Registration fees col- lected through the District Land Offices amounted to $35,908.50, and Crown Lease fees to $300.00.

Stamp Duty.

8. The total amount of Stamp Duty paid on instruments registered was $9,410,502.55, nearly $3,800,000 more than in 1953/54.

Crown Rents.

9. The number of lots on the Principal Rent Roll, in which for the first time Permanent Piers have been included, was 15,825, 363 more than for the previous year, and the Crown Rents totalled $1,407,516.43. Table IV gives particulars by localities. The principal increases are 18 Marine Lots (Hong Kong), 143 Inland Lots (Hong Kong), 106 Kowloon Inland Lots and 18 New Kowloon Inland Lots.

10. The Village Rent Roll summarized in Table V shows a further small decrease in the number of lots from 1,819 to 1,813. The total Crown Rent for these lots is $1,190.50.

11. The Crown Rents of 253 sections of lots were deter- mined under the Crown Rents (Apportionment) Ordinance (Cap. 125). The fees totalled $3,208.00.
