Companies Registration.

17. During 1954/55, 254 new companies with a total nominal capital of $341,469,056 were incorporated under the Companies Ordinance (Cap. 32), and 36 Certificates of Com- pliance with the provisions of Part XI of the Ordinance were issued to foreign corporations which had established a place of business within the Colony. These figures show increases of 53 and 13 respectively over those for 1953/54.

18. At 31st March, 1955, there were 2,803 local companies on the Companies Register, and 477 foreign corporations had established places of business in Hong Kong and complied with the provisions of Part XI of the Ordinance.
